I was pretty lucky today to get out of the house and take a trip along the Otago coastline to the Catlins. There is an iconic lighthouse on a spot called Nugget Point. Below were fur seals and possibly a penguin or two. The scenery was incredible and I just kept saying, “Wow” over and over. The sea was a beautiful blue and the sun came out just in time to snap some pictures.

Wee lambs have a great view!

We went on to Cannibal Bay (named for the human remains found there by a surveyor once). We spotted a sleepy sea lion all by himself, some birds and even a lady bug on the beach.

Then some cool windswept trees with cows wondering who we were!

  1. Wild – windswept and wild! You appear to be at the edge of the earth. I got vertigo from the photo of you. It looks like one more step backwards and you will tumble to the sea.

    1. It wasn’t too bad on the wayward side but once we got on the side of the rocks the breeze was pretty intense…I had to put gloves on too. If I had to guess I’d say it was mid 50’s on the cold side, low 60’s on the warm side. It’s been around 16 for the past couple of days which is the warmest since I’ve been here (that’s around 62). I finally found an easy way to convert C to F by doubling the C number then adding 30…it gives you an approximate number, not quite exact but close enough!
